We participate in the Workshop on Rural Tourism Network Dominicana (REDOTUR)

Juan Carlos Rubio, the new community coordinator for our project "Eco-Bahoruco Cienega" participated in the workshop of the Dominican Network of Rural Tourism (REDOTUR) that development on 21 and June 22, 2007 in Los Calabazos, Jarabacoa.
This is his report ....
The workshop for the creation of the Dominican Network of Rural Tourism serealizó on Thursday 21 and Friday June 22, 2007 in Los Calabazos a community of Jarabacoa that is implementing a rural tourism experience and are therefore part of this network. With the participation of 28 people representing 21 organizations.
The purpose of this workshop was correct, evaluate and approve the final document for the establishment of the REDOTUR, the result of several previous workshops held in Azua and Cachote, and the election of the first Coordinating Board consists of President, Vice-President , Treasurer, Secretary and three members. This document contains all the necessary schema for the formation of an entity as it wants to be the REDOTUR, objectives, vision, mission,
regulations, statutes, etc.., which after being approved by the assembly will be subject to legal process.
One of the points is that to gain membership or initiatives that represent the institution must be incorporated for membership category 1 and / or Cat.2 process, which becomes a member Taigüey in category 1. You must pay a registration fee by a letter of application for membership and an annual fee.
The REDOTUR intended to be an entity that performs work, (like Enriquillo Red Quela regional level), at the national level ecotourism initiatives (calls within the redotur as rural tourism) monitoring, training, promotion, representation and so on.
The methodology used for the work was performed in regional groups: North, South, Central, East, etc.. Who reviewed step by step the entire document and then discuss it in plenary.
The final part of the workshop corresponded to the election of the Coordinating Board. For this purpose the regulations were established for the election process models and taking some items statutes. We defined the following parameters: The coordinating board consists of seven members who shall be equitably
distributed in the participating regions of the network, except that regions with more members in the REDOTUR will have the most representatives on the Coordinating Board. Of the five participating regions have as many members are in 1st South West. Place and the north / north-central second, which was allotted two representatives each, and other areas of a representative. The regions were in charge of the election of their representatives, which are institutions and then followed the election of the Coordinating Board by charge
among the seven selected institutions.
Southwest were selected from the PCB: the coordination
Leatherback and resulted in the secretariat IDEAC (Yesenia Saud).
