The TAC endowment helps to "put on the map Swamp"

Grants Fund Program Transparency and Citizen Action of selected USAID project "putting Swamp Map" for financial support. The project aims to contribute to the strengthening of participatory municipal management in the municipality through Swamp develop a "GIS" as a tool for participatory planning of the municipality of La Cienega.
On the local pilot communities of La Cienega and Bahoruco FUDECO being concentrated areas where the largest population of residents of the municipality. And it will be implemented by the Foundation Taigüey, with the support of the organization Citizen Participation, the National Statistics Office (NSO), and City of La Cienega and community-based organizations.
The Grants Program is a mechanism that TAC provides financial resources to civil society organizations, in order that these strengthen their capacity for social control and monitoring institutions and topics of interest, through mechanisms ethical and appropriate public participation.
The main objectives of this fund are:
• Increase transparency and accountability in public and private sectors.
• Expand and strengthen citizen participation in the struggle for transparency.
• Strengthen monitoring / social audit and access to information locally and nationally.
• Promote compliance with international conventions on Transparency and Corruption. (Inter-American Convention against Corruption United Nations Convention against Corruption).
• Improve transparency and public services locally and nationally.
• Encourage greater participation of women, youth and marginalized sectors on issues of transparency and accountability.
The expected outcomes of the project "putting the Swamp on the map" for achieving the objectives are:
- Release of Information through a participatory process involving community organizations where representatives of municipal government. Through meetings with community awareness, identification and prioritization workshops and thematic areas of the same location (lift available) and the creation and starting of equipment for integrated data collection by members of the communities in the municipality as well as workshops for the validation of the processed data.
- To train the different local actors in the Management and Use of geo-referencing tool where community organizations and the City participate in workshops on management and use of the tool. This through training workshops on technical management of the tool, update data and other more focused to use as workshops on the use and applications of the tool and introduction to participatory municipal planning. Also form a Municipal Council Update Map, consisting of various community stakeholders, responsible for updating the map data as they are transformed.
- Installation of the software tool and the processed data referenced Information System will be held online through the hiring of a / consultant / ar expert in the field for installation, training and support tool in use.
- Reach an agreement with the City Council which undertakes to use the tool to decide on investments as provided by law 166-03
