Ecotourism guides workshop with support from the Spanish Cooperation (AECI)

24 and 25 May 2008 a workshop on ecotourism guides with support from the Spanish Cooperation (AECI) in the context of ecotourism project comuniatrio supported by the Spanish International Cooperation Agency (AECI). The aim of this workshop was ( a) to sensitize the students of the importance of ecotourism guide the care of the environment and the development of tourism in general (b) demonstrate the intimate relationship that keeps the environment in our tourism and (c) create a vision Solid importance of ecotourism guide because it has the mission to inform, direct and guide the tourists from different points of view with emphasis on the care of nature.
PURPOSE
At the end of the introductory course ecotourism guide the student will be able to:
1. Understanding Ecotourism as an activity that meets the everyday aspects of tourism and how they are involved in protecting natural and cultural resources.
2. Understand the implications of Ideology Ecotourism in Tourism Activities and Financial any company wishing to practice this philosophy.
3. Recognize the different protected areas of the country and have a general idea of the resources of existing tourist attraction in them.
4. Know the effects of human activities on the environment, such as water pollution, air and other contaminants.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
1. Introduce participants to the concept of sustainable development and how protection and conservation are reconciled to it.
2. Recognizing that tourism and the environment are interdependent areas, and indeed all tourist activity in obviating the need to implement improvement programs, protection and conservation of the environment is doomed to failure, either short, medium or long term.
3. Determine the impacts that ecotourism has on the natural areas where it is practiced.
4. Analyze the different ways of delivering care services and tour guide, describing and relating the main functions and procedures.
5. Develop initiative, sense of responsibility, identity and professional maturity to improve the quality of work and to encourage professional development.
METHODOLOGY
The form of this course will be theoretical and practical, using the concepts discussed in class to illustrate and better understand the activities in natural areas whether public as national parks or private nature reserves.
