Jacqui, New Peace Corps Volunteer in The Swamp

Greetings to The Swamp! In the past month has seen the blonde walking down the street, or perhaps running? Well, I would like to formally introduce myself my name is Jacqueline, Guerrero, or "Yaki." I live with Fefa, Galmy, Nanai and so on, across the river, in the "neighborhood Haiti". I am a Peace Corps volunteer in the United States and live two years in this community as "Cienagera" next to you.
Peace Corps is a government agency where volunteers work in developing countries to promote peace and friendship. There are over 195,000 volunteers have served in 139 host countries to work on issues that range from disease education, environmental conservation, information, youth business. The Peace Corps volunteers continue to help individuals who want to build a better life for everyone in their communities. (Read more ...)

CIVIC 2.0 event will gather 50 regional stakeholders from different sectors

Taigüey Foundation, who coordinates the project CARISNET 2 to support the development of the Caribbean Community Virtual Actors / Actresses ICT (CIVIC) organizes 11 to November 14, 2008 CIVIC 2.0 a regional event and multi-sectoral Technology Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) for development and regional integration. The main component of the event is "Consultation CIVIC" that contribute to the development of a 2-3 year strategic plan of the civic community to meet the challenges we have in the field of ICTs for development in the Caribbean (such as capacity for better public policy advocacy, better production of knowledge, enhanced project management TICpD, but regional cooperation projects, etc.) but will have two days before training seminar TICpD policy design, and a day management training in thematic channels Web 2.0 (and moderation and facilitation of thematic subgroups). Hurricane Gustav came - and went without much damage (chronic)

24 and 25 May 2008 a workshop on ecotourism guides with support from the Spanish Cooperation (AECI) in the context of ecotourism project comuniatrio supported by the Spanish International Cooperation Agency (AECI). Activity Report 2007 of the Foundation Taigüey

Storm Noel: report from the Cienaga

Participatory Municipal Planning and the use of Maps

Taller planificacion municipal This Sunday, September 22, 2007, as the climax of the "putting the swamp on the map" was held with the facilitation of Mr. Domingo Matias, an expert in municipal issues, the workshop "Participatory Municipal Planning and the use of Maps" with the objective awareness of / participants in the municipal planning concepts and processes for their operation and applications of GIS planning tool. Hurricane Dean passes close: Guanaba.Net and the Civil Defense in action

Cyclone-dean-2.gif On the afternoon of Saturday August 16, 2007, Hurricane Dean was less than 100 km off the coast of La Cienega. Guanaba.Net and Civil Defense teamed up to keep informed the inhabitants of the municipality on the advance of the phenomenon and preventive measures and precautions to take if the cyclone entered the southern coast of the island.
