CAPS REPORT ON THE JAMAICA NETWORK (Jachan) NETWORKING WORKSHOP Kingston, Jamaica - July 30 2009. The workshop Gathered There Were 27 Participants from 17 local telecenters / CAP sites across the island. The Objective of the workshop WAS to Strengthen the networking activity among the the CAP OPERATORS / managers, Within the framework of the Jachan, in order to enable peer to peer support permanent, Dissemination of best practices, tools and resources, to Strengthen the sustainability and Social Impact of the CAPS in the communities. It was Organised by Jachan and ICT4DJamaica and Taigüey Foundation, in the framework of the ACT! ivate project This workshop WAS Organised thanks to the support of telecentre.org to Financial program is a joint venture of the International Development Research Centre (Canada) the Swiss Development Corporation and the Microsoft Corporation.

On Thursday 16 April saw the first Meeting-Workshop on Collective Centres Access to ICTs in the Region Enriquillo in the South Foundation facilities Younger, in Barahona coordinated by the Technical Unit of the C omission National Information Society (CNSIC) of the Dominican Republic and Taigüey Foundation. The meeting is part of the establishment of the National Network and the Commonwealth of Dominican Cacts , which seeks to enhance the sustainability and social impact of technology centers, through joint capacity building, exchange of experiences, tools and best practices between managers and operators of the technology centers. The same counted with the participation of 80 operators / managers as and / as the Community Technology Centers (Cacts) promoted by INDOTEL, Secretary of Education and the Ministry of Youth in the provinces of Pedernales, Bahoruco, Barahona and Independencia. The "Center of Excellence for the sustainability and social impact of technology centers of the South West" look to capitalize, with training programs for operators / as technology centers and networks of mutual support, the large investment by public and private initiatives that have been installed in many centers throughout the region access to technology and contribute to sustainable development of communities in the southwest of the Dominican Republic. The project was defined from a recent study by the National Statistics Office and the Foundation Taigüey on the operation of collective access centers, which included a survey of 357 community centers established by the state, (more ...)

On Monday 17 November was held the workshop "Sustainability Initiatives Collective Access to ICTs in the Dominican Republic" with the objective to "analyze and share among the various governmental and nongovernmental organizations in the Dominican Republic to promote initiatives for access to ICTs lessons learned, best practices, work methods, resources used, the impact of such initiatives in communities and the challenges to ensure sustainability of these initiatives and increase their social impact in the development human communities and their inhabitants. I have training in Planning and Management of Ecotourism in Tropical and Sub Areas. Tropical Social Marketing Management, Rural Development and Tourism, Strategic Management of Community Development, Development and Implementation Workshop, among others.

This Thursday, August 7, 2008 in connection with the disclosure of a series of studies on Access and Use of Information Technology and Communication (part of the XII Inter-Agency Meeting the National Statistical System ) presented the results of the monograph "The Collective Access Centres (CAC) to ICT driven from the state "that made Taigüey Foundation. This work aims to perform a quantitative and qualitative picture of the Collective Access Centres (CACs, telecentres) driven and / or supported by the state: coverage, operational performance, use, operation, weaknesses, best practices and lessons learned. In March we traveled to Lima, Peru to participate in a workshop organized by the Peruvian Center for Social Studies - CEPES to discuss and review the planning and goals of the project "Assistance Service Call Centre Operators" .. This project seeks to develop capacities of telecentre managers, strengthening them as development actors and to promote working in a network. After the workshop it was decided to establish a cooperation agreement between the project "Assistance Service Call Centre Operators" of the project CEPES and ACT! Ivate support the creation of the Caribbean Alliance ACT! driven Taigüey Foundation. (Read more ...)

To ivate / participants of the first Conference of the Telecentre Network of Jamaica (Jamaica Conference Community Multimedia Centre ) . The project's goal Act! Ivate is to build and sustain the inner workings of the Alliance of Caribbean Community Telecentres (ACT!) viewed as a regional framework to share and promote collaboration among Caribbean telecentres. The Foundation Taiguey obtained support from various institutions to organize a regional workshop of community telecentres. The 3-day workshop meeting in Santo Domingo as of July 20 to 22, 2006, to around 30 players in the Caribbean Community Telecentres, in order to structure a regional framework for exchange, learning and collective action.
